Public Relations Support for the Sprout Industry
We Are Getting the Good News Out... Let's Keep it Going!
Sprouts are a miracle of health, nutrition and flavor
Here’s the good news:
- Sprouts are functional foods. Alfalfa, radish, broccoli, clover, and soybean sprouts contain a wide range of medicinal compounds in sufficient dosage to treat and prevent disease. For example, alfalfa lowers cholesterol; broccoli reduces the growth of cancerous tumors.
- Soybean sprouts have more protein than eggs and only about half the fat!
- Sprouts add texture, flavor and color to soups, salads, sandwiches and main meals.
Dear Colleagues,
We need Public Relations support effort now more than ever. There are advantages to supporting a public relations effort to spread the good news about spouts.
ASSURING THE PUBLIC
The Sprout Industry needs to inform the public through the media of all our good efforts to make sprouts a safe and healthy food. And to put the food safety issue in perspective for the public, since no food is immune to contamination.
HELPING GROWERS
National press releases and press kits for targeted news media can make the public aware of the many health benefits of eating sprouts, including protection from disease. A quick-response press release in response to an outbreak can localize the problem and minimize the damage to the public’s perception of sprouts.
Our PR efforts benefit everyone in the sprout world. All boats will rise together. Everyone will benefit from the power of our community.
How much is it worth to protect the good image of our industry in the public eye? Together, we can protect our mutual interests and reinvigorate the public opinion of our product. You do not need to be an ISGA member to participate in this program.
Our initial contributors pledged $750 or $250 for each of three months to start our industry’s Public Relations Program. Please consider making a contribution to this program in any amount so that it can be as robust as possible.
